PRISM
THEORY GEARING UP FOR SOPHOMORE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH, August 15, 2005—Northeast
Ohio-based heavy rock band Prism Theory is set to release
their sophomore album, Unity For Insanity, on Latticesphere
Records on October 18. The album is the highly anticipated
follow-up to 2003’s In the Wake of a Dream, and features
a more mature sound that draws from Prism Theory’s roots
in heavy, melodic hooks, as well as more personal lyrics that
have been drawn from the band’s experiences together
as a unit.
For this project, Prism Theory
was initially set to record a few songs to get a feel for
where they wanted to go as a band. But the studio proved to
be a breeding ground for inspiration, and soon the band had
enough material for a powerful full-length release.
Unity For Insanity was produced
by Bill Korecky at Mars Recording Studio. Korecky is known
for his work with Northeast Ohio’s powerhouse bands
such as Mushroomhead and Disengage. His demand for fundamental
performances and a high intensity work ethnic were a key reason
the band selected him. Prism Theory knew that with having
those same principles in mind, they could capture their true
style and sound.
"Bill has been nothing but
great to this project, and he sees and shares our vision,"
says guitarist Barry Davis. "He has really brought out
the best in all of us for sure".
After completing nine songs in
the studio, the band dug back into their catalog and brought
back some songs that where never recorded or released. But
bringing those songs to the level of the other nine was going
to be a challenge. Then much to the band’s surprise,
the new versions of the songs fit very well with the theme
of the album, and brought new dimensions to the overall style
of writing.
With Unity For Insanity, Prism
Theory once again takes you on a musical journey though musicality,
brutality and lots of emotion. With powerful songs such as
"Too Far Gone" and "Falling Down (Like Rain)”
to very melodic sing-along songs like "Wanted" and
"What's Real" to progressive/musical songs as "Storm
Shower" and "You Don't Know Me," this album
is sure to strike a chord with just about anyone.
As far as lyrics, there were
more ideas being brought to the table this time. "This
was my first time contributing song ideas and coming up with
something to say lyrically,” says drummer Drew Pen Cook.
"I had all these ideas and lyrics building up in my head,
and was glad they worked their way into the context of this
band. It brought a new element to the writing."
Another addition to the album was a version of Genesis' "Land
Of Confusion" which the band had been performing live
since late 2003. "We always felt like it was such a great
song to do, being it really fit with what was going on in
the world today, says lead vocalist and keyboardist Chris
Imlay. "Not to mention we're fans of Genesis."
Then in the spring of 2005, word
was out that the metal band "Disturbed" was set
to release the same song on their new album. Due to a lot
of live performances of the song over the past year and half,
Prism Theory felt as if the idea had been stolen out from
under them. The band was unsure if they even wanted to include
the remake on the album after the news, but decided to carry
out their idea because their version was going to be totally
different from Disturbed’s.
"We have had a lot of people
who have seen us perform “Land of Confusion” and
have requested many times to include a version of that on
our upcoming album,” says Davis. “So we are going
to do just that. What we want people to know is that our version
will be different yet more genuine to the original and it
will give people two different perspectives on one great song."
With the release date approaching
and expectations running high, Unity For Insanity is sure
to plant Prism Theory's feet deeper into the music world and
let the essence of power, feeling and emotion reign in the
modern music genre once again. |

PT In the Studio - Update 2
Just a quick update from the Prism Theory
camp. Studio work is going very well for the band and I think
the music is going to rip heads right off when listened to
-- it's that good. We're working on putting several streaming
video vignettes of the band in the studio on the site. In
the meantime, if you're willing to sit through a non-streaming
download -- click on the following clips of the band tracking
songs for the next album:
Note: In some browsers, when
you click on the video links you will see a white page with
the word "Done" in the lower status bar. That means
the file is still downloading and will play once it loads.
At a later date we will provide streaming video. Thanks!
The group had the following message
board update for fans:
"Whats up everyone. Okay, all the music
is done for the first 9 songs on the album! Chris hits the
studio this week to start the vocal tracks. We have about
5 or 6 more songs to complete after these 9 songs are done
before the album will be wrapped up. (yes this will be a
full-length album this time!!! Stay tuned for more info!
Enjoy the videos!"

PT In the Studio - Update
Hi all, Well we finally have our asses in
the studio, and its going really well. We are working with
Bill Korecky at Mars Recording Studio. He is great because
he sees and shares our vision of writing and talents. We started
tracking drums last wednesday (1/19) and are about to start
guitars this week. Originally we were only going to do a few
songs for promotional purposes but decided to document just
about everything we have to date. Its looking very good for
a full length to come out sooner then we had expected. No
confirmation as to the songs that will appear on it but I
can say that its all sounding great and this one will get
you moving!!! Stay tuned, pics/video footage of the studio
could pop up, ya never know! -- Barry - PT |

— The latest news ...
Regarding the upcoming months for Prism Theory,
the band had this to say on the Message Boards:
"We are currently trying to work out
scheduling to get back in the studio to start recording some
of our new songs. More details will become available at a
later date on that. This will bring us into the new year giving
you all some new material to bite on until we finish up our
next full length album. We're very excited about the new songs
and getting to perform again. As a band we have been going
through some growing stages and changing things up a bit,
which I'm sure will become apparent in the weeks to come.
Thanks to everyone for supporting us and being so patient.
The four of us are doing well and looking forward to seeing
you all very soon. Rock on \m/ \m/." -- Prism Theory:

12/1/2003
Prism Theory is taking
much of December off to get ready for next year. We really
work hard to bring the best music and atmosphere to the table
every time and to do that, we need a little break ourselves.
What are we doing while we're "on break" you ask?
Here's the grocery list: Writing and demoing new songs, redesigning
PrismTheory.com, tweaking tons of new photos, prepping for
a TON of new FYE in-store appearance/performances, etc. etc.
Now, aside from that, we need to mention that our Web hosting
service 'lost' 100 guestbook entries and there is no way to
get them back. We appreciate your kind (and not-so-kind) remarks
and we ask that you either repost or post anew as soon as
possible. Thanks and we'll see ya in the New Year!
